Quality education is one of the central goals for Satbayev University. The university integrates sustainable development principles into teaching, research projects, campus management, and engagement with partners.
What does this mean for Satbayev University
Integration of sustainable development principles into academic disciplines, development of next-generation engineering education, support for interdisciplinarity, learning through real projects, development of international formats such as dual-degree programs, Future17, as well as the promotion of academic integrity, inclusivity, and pedagogical innovations.
Sustainable environment
The university expands access to education through state grants, internal grants, discounts, scholarship programs, and support measures for various categories of students. For example, the republican intellectual game “Young Satpayev”, the named scholarship named after Academician Zh.M. Adilov. The university has regulations on the provision of grants, discounts, and financial incentives for students, including through grants from the “Qazaqstan Khalkyna” Foundation and other support programs. An additional contribution to a sustainable educational environment is language courses, which expand access to learning and academic growth for different groups of the university community. In 2026, the university opened free English and French courses for faculty and staff. English language courses, including preparation for comprehensive testing and IELTS, were also organized for applicants to master’s and doctoral programs, helping to expand access to further levels of education and scientific careers. The university also supports academic integrity in all its forms.
The contribution to a sustainable environment under SDG 4 is linked to the development of inclusive education, a barrier-free environment, adaptation of the learning process, and creating conditions where students with different educational needs can fully study and participate in university life.
A sustainable educational environment includes not only classrooms but also the overall well-being of students. This includes fire safety policies, occupational safety, psychological support, medical care, comfortable campus conditions, and the formation of a culture of respect and academic integrity.
Research
On the university science portal, it is emphasized that science at Satbayev University combines fundamental knowledge and applied solutions, and research shapes the agenda in fields such as mining, oil and gas engineering, digital technologies, materials science, and sustainable development. Students receive education in an environment where knowledge is immediately linked to current economic and societal challenges.
SDG 4 is further strengthened through access to academic knowledge and publication culture. The Satbayev University repository includes scientific publications and separately links materials to the Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 4. This is important for quality education as it creates an open academic environment where students, faculty, and researchers have access to scientific articles, textbooks, research, and results of university science.
A strong aspect of Satbayev University in the context of SDG 4 is also the link between education, science, and implementation. The university develops commercialization, contract, and spin-off projects that connect research, learning, and industry demands. Therefore, the university’s contribution also lies in faculty professional development, the introduction of new teaching methods, digital tools, and student-centered learning practices.
The university creates laboratories, research platforms, engineering projects, technoparks, and real-world cases for students, making education more sustainable and viable. Such an environment helps prepare specialists capable of working under conditions of technological and social change.
Academic mobility and dual-degree programs allow students and faculty to study, intern, and exchange experiences at Kazakhstani and foreign universities, as well as gain international competencies, two diplomas, and skills demanded in the global labor market.
ArtLab Satbayev University is a university theater that expands the educational environment and creates space for students’ creative development. Through theatrical performances, stage practice, and collective work, the project helps develop communication skills, creativity, confidence, emotional intelligence, and a culture of self-expression. ArtLab enhances the quality of education by adding a humanitarian and cultural dimension to engineering training and contributing to the formation of a well-rounded personality.
The Silver University is an important part of the university, developing the principles of continuous, inclusive, and accessible education. The program provides free courses for people aged 50+ and people with disabilities, including digital literacy, cybersecurity, financial literacy, English, and other areas that promote social adaptation, self-realization, and active participation in modern life.
